Default Re: What did you do to your Crossfire today?

Two days late on posting this, but I treated my XF to a complete battery cleanup to include removing the tray below the battery and getting to see the pneumatic line everyone has been talking about in reference to the fresh air damper and the clicking behind the glove box (which I have been experiencing and solve by turning the fan switch to anything but the off position). The tray was in awesome shape and the innards below the battery was super clean (garage kept). Cleaned minor road/under hood slime off both the battery and complete tray, and cleaned both posts and clamps. Re-installation went great with only a minor adjustment from factory (the battery tray is kinda crooked which had the battery closer to the sharp fender edge near the front of the vehicle). I corrected it to about 95% parallel to the fender (maximum adjustment with mounting points), which saves my fingers from slices when I wipe up the water during washes.

I also wanted to check/test the BAS/ESP light coming on and the siren blaring from the posts of other members. I generally remove the neg cable/clamp first (its a smart thing to do especially if you have seen some of the safety reports shown during the weekly briefings we were required to do when I was active duty) then the positive cable clamp. Both times this battery was out of the car since ownership, the siren did not trip and the BAS/ESP lamp was not lit when the battery was reconnected. Reconnection was the reverse of disconnection with the positive clamp first (then covered with the little red cover), and then the negative cable/clamp. This "First Off-Last On" procedure with these negative cable clamps is safest for negative ground vehicles when dealing with the current in these batteries. I wonder if the way folks are pulling those clamps off/on is causing the trigger of either the alarm and or the BAS/ESP light, that has to be reset?
