Mr P - Since our engines, trannys and suspensions are all MB, parts will be readily available into the foreseeable future, and in most cases, cheaper at a Benz dealer vs. a Chrysler dealer. Soft trim & body parts will be the challenge going forward.
Interesting that Jeep went with the older Daimler tranny rather than a Fiat or Alfa based gearbox, particularly since the MB unit is not known for smooth shifts. Also of interest for us OCD 6 sp manual owners is that Jeep specs Mopar MS-9224 oil for their gearbox while the same tranny in the Xfire is spec'd for a 5W-20 motor oil. The MS-9224 is a 5W-30 synchromesh fluid similar to this:
AMSOIL Manual Synchromesh Transmission Fluid 5W-30
Wonder if the newer fluid can be back-spec'd to the Xfire, and if so, will it improve that notchy 1st to 2nd gear shift?
I've got two vehicles with the Pentastar V6 (Jeep & 200 conv), and while a powerful engine, there's not a lot of aftermarket parts available yet, despite the million units already produced.
