That is 99% correct. The only thing that is incorrect in your statement is that if you use a yellow from one grouping and a mixed yellow from another grouping you won't necessarily just lose sub control, you will not have ANY sound because you won't have a complete circuit. But to keep this from getting too technical, just suffice it to say that you need to keep the twisted pairs in one RCA to make sure you have proper sound and control. Same rules apply to the blue colored twisted pairs.
