Re: Iam about half lit.
I got some readings and info on the tail lights, other lights may vary I just do not have, the time to do them all at once.
The factory lights (bulbs) are as follows:
Tail light current draw with 12.5 volts applied.
LOW BEAM _ Running light 0.39 AMPS
BRAKE LIGHT 1.6 AMPS
MY 60 LED lights
Running light 0.050 AMPS
Brake light 0.20 AMPS
Back-up light 1.6 AMPS
LED Back-up light 0.22 AMPS
THe car needs to see some current to keep the bulb out indicator off. Testing showed that a 100 Ohm resistor across ground and the lamp lead would satisfy this value. If the led is working I found that a 300 Ohm resistor was enough to satisfy the indicator.
I would suggest , and I plan on using 100 Ohm resistors across the sockets, they should be at least 2 Watt resistors so as not to overheat. The Idiots on ebay are offering resistors that are 6 Ohms, which draw 2 AMPS and dissipate or release about 24 WATTS of heat. I have soldering irons that dissipate less power!!!and heat.
I did testing to see how the senor in the car worked and tried capacitors, no luck. The car needs to see a minimum of current and the 100 Ohm value I suggest draws E / R= 0.12 amps.
Here you go , did you know that LEDs dont draw ANY current if they are supplied about 2 or 3 volts??? Yup, the reds turn on above about 2.2 volts, the green about 3 volts and the blue needs even more voltage to turn on.. Red, blue, green?????????? WTH is that. Well there is no white leds, they are three RGB Leds in each white module.......Taaa Daaaa FYI.
Enjoy, Woody
BTW If there a significant interest, I can supply them.
