How low did you cut? 1/4 a turn? Did you have to heat / seal the cut end?
Mine actually had a full coil removed, but that was the case on all four corners. If I were to do it again, I'd only remove 3/4 turn and see where it sits.
Heat sealing isn't needed, but some POR-15 or underbody paint wouldn't hurt to prevent rust.
