Thanks for the replies, but I am sure my fob is broken. resyncing is not possible.

My question is whether or not there is a way to check to see if the system in the car works, before buying a new fob. I don't want to buy a new fob/remote only to find that the system in the car is broken. Isn't the remote entry/alarm part of the central locking system that sits in the trunk? My unit had the typical water damage but has been DIY repaired.
