Woody The resting voltage will tell you a lot - gotta be above 12.3 minimum.

I retired my one (2004) to the shelf last May, I recharged it ten days ago and it read 12.4 V tonight.
Another spare from 2007 and recharged at the same time hit 12.5 V. It was too tall to fit the Crossfire and it came out of my old LHS.
Those Vartas are really good batteries, they are made by Johnson Controls.
