You could probably put it back together and run it.. being careful when putting the engine cover/air box back on.. but I think I would start looking for one. I trust you still have the clip at the very top of the maf housing that hooks back into the manifold? Once assembled it shouldn't go anywhere.. put pulling on the engine cover without regard to that missing might kick it loose..
Might want another pair of hands in there.. holding the maf housing steady while putting the cover on..

Although your post has a positive twist I am wise enough to read between the lines and understand someone telling me that if it were them they would get a replacement piece. And so that is what I will do. I have gone this far I might as well go all the way and make sure everything is as secure as when i purchased the car.
Again, thanks for coming to my aid and providing direction. Off to find me a throttle body elbow, where ever I can find one?
