Smile Fitting rear shock absorbers

Hello guys,

I bought a manual '05 plate crossfire a few months ago and recently put it through an MOT - which it passed thankfully! However, the rear driver's side shock absorber was an advisory which would tie in with the clunking noise I get when going over speed bumps (of which there are lots in the UK).

My question is: how difficult is it to replace the shock absorbers if I was to buy these parts myself? Is it straight-forward job or something for the garage? My father is a pretty competent DIY mechanic so I can get a hand from him.

I assume they need replaced in pairs...

Cheers,
Warren
