Judging by what they said then, I wouldn't imagine there's a whole lot there holding them in. Probably just press fit. You might even be able to pull them out by wedging your fingernails under the lip and giving a gentle tug.
Yeah, I tried 5 fingernails at once and nearly ripped them all off.
I'm just going to fabricate a small tool to do it or possibly grind down a cheap crescent wrench.
