Re: SuperCharger Mod
I'm not totally convienced just yet if this mod has a performance benefit or not. It's definately a high risk project because of possible heat weld warpage. Dan Timmons owner of Nitro in Mooresville,N.C.who has projects in the Genius Book of World Records and designer and manufactor of Nas Car's 36 lazer offical car body inspection station is the one I trusted to do my welding. I'm thinking that welding in these silencing ports with taps has got to somewhat increase boost. I've never thrown a boost code until doing so. I could be all wrong here, but here's my theory. There's just a small opening at the back of the supercharger and on the bottom that passes air. Each side of the blower's rotating vanes are sucking air, then meeting in the center, then blowing out the air. The flanged case opening on the bottom where the intercooler is bolted, are cut exactly to line up with the blower vanes. Except for the notched silencing ports. Being the notched area isn't lined up with the blower vanes,it makes this notched area useless and just tones down a whistle effect that Mercedes doesn't want. Just my thoughts and no proven documentation. Squirrel Crusher
