Default Re: Accelerator Pedal Fault - Non Response

Until a few days ago,Only had this problem occur one more time. Last week when overtaking
another car, the throttle response went dead. Did the usual restart and all fixed.
4 days later it did it again, but this time the Engine Management light came on.
I drove home, did a throttle recal on it and the Engine light went out.
I took it to my mechanic the next day, and he plugged the scanner in, selected the Crossfire from its menu, no codes.
By this stage the car was running normally, so he said to see how it goes.
I took it for a hard run down a long road, and within a couple of minutes
it went into limp home mode with the engine light on.
Took it straight back to the mechanic, he plugged his scanner in, selected
Crossfire, no codes, this is still with the engine running and the the engine light
on. We both couldn't understand it.
I suggested he select Mercedes R170 3.2, and guess what? It came up with a
Accelerator Sensor fault.
It seems strange that Chrysler couldn't find any codes when the problem surfaced years ago,
nor could my mechanic, until we selected the R170 Merc.

Anyway my mechanic contacted Chrysler about a new sensor. Have to replace the whole accelerator
Assembly, $550 and none in the country, minimum wait 3 weeks.
I told the mechanic to hold off with Chrysler.
I found the Merc part # and went to the local Merc dealer, and just gave him the part # , he came back with "that's an accelerator assembly for a R170 3.2. I told him my story,
and he asked how much Chrysler wanted for one, $550 I said, Mercedes wanted $715,
but he said he would price match and have one the next day.
Today I picked it up, exactly the same part, and he further discounted it to $525.
I will be installing it tomorrow.
