Re: Accelerator Pedal Fault - Non Response
When the fault occurs, it seems like the engine has gone to idle, but it actually goes into a limp home mode, where you can accelerate very very slowly, and cruise. I drove home from work at 80Kms/hr(50m/hr) quite comfortably.
The funny thing is that every time the fault has occured, it has been early morning or late at night in spring/winter where the temp is really low (5 deg C), and there is a small circuit board inside the unit, so I bet there is a poor solder joint somewhere. When I install the new one, I will attempt to dismantle the old one and have a look.
I have never had a sprint booster installed.
As far as the codes go, the scanner the mechanic used doesnt just pull the codes, but once you input the type of vehicle, translates the codes into the fault.
It has historical and current data, and in history there was no accelerator fault, but I had BCM over votage, BCM under voltage as well as right window switch stuck in history. Even with the car in limp home mode with the engine management light on, when selecting Chrysler Crossfire on the scanner, it coundnt see the fault. It is only when selecting Mercedes R170 3.2, that it found the fault. Maybe Chrysler, (or Chrysler Aust) have stuffed up the codes somehow. The scanner the mechanic used was a WARELEAD EZ SCAN S1.
