Silicone Seal
I had a bird bath that was leaking, so I applied white GE Silicone II Seal to the crack. I have always swore by GE silicone sealant as it has saved my bacon many times, this time I swore at it as it did not set. No problem really says I as I have another tube of GE Silicone II clear, next morning I found this had not set either. ****!
Onto the computer and I find that GE being an eco friendly company has made the Silicone II sealant a product with a best before date. Some time after that date it will not set up at all. I wondered why I could not smell it, that vinegar smell that was so familiar after it was used. No ascetic acid in the sealant these days. Makes me wonder if it is any good in the long run now.
Now I have two tubes of useless sealant that will go into the dump, one tube is nearly new for chrisakes, well not new just 10% used. It's BB date was Feb. 2011. No wonder it was easy to get it flowing from the nozzle when I took the cap off.
Welcome to the eco friendly world, dumps filling up with half used tubes of useless sealant.
What am I missing here?
There is nothing better than the smell of silicone sealant setting, you know that the job is being done right, so buy GE Silicone I not II and do the job correctly.
