Back OT, I too fell in love with the Crossfire because oof the styling. It was the MB under the hood that closed the deal.
Chrysler bought AMC out in 1987 so pre that year cars were made by a compny going down. Quality and reputation took a back seat to prrofit. I think most likely, it had little to do with multiple suppliers.
But let us not divert the thread. This is too exciting.
Benz cars are the best engineered in the world made with the cheapest parts. However, if built on a Benz platform, I would be elated. But a Hyundai platform would also do. Even perhaps V/8 powered this time. Ford powered might be interesting. Think Shelby Cobra here guys.
