Default Re: SL55 AMG V8 Intake Conversion

from here.....although I'm not sure where the SL55 boxes have been tested to 15"WG, if anyone has a loink - much appreciated.
https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...ow-data-2.html
the main restriction on the V6 is the Y-pipe. If you study it closely it nips down quite markedly at that point.
The NW CAI, DCAI and SL55's all have larger Y-pieces.

Based on my engine model....the CAI should give a stock motor
- a 74/155 at redline = +4 to 6rwhp for the CAI and +6 to 8rwhp for the DCAI = very noticeable.
Many have reported better bottom end delivery and throttle response as well.

But if you are going for a pullied setup, the gains are more because the air flow is much more (730 v 580cfm at WOT /w stock air boxes)
- a 62/155 at redline = +7 to 9rwhp for the CAI and +9 to 11rwph for the DCAI = nothing to be sneezed at.

While you're at it Blueyes .....if you want to keep yourself busy....
Try looking around at the 82mm Trottle body and SC intake mods PN 2731410325, or 80mm (easier) PN 1131400104 or PN 1371410125.
Which will give you another 4-6rwph by opening up the throttle gallery and supercharger inlet at the 730cfm levels (62/155 setup)
The Y-piece fits onto the TB, so should be sized accordingly with your intake/filter system, there are many out there.
One thing always leads to another....
All the info is either here or over at mbworld on the C32 and SL55 forums.

Word of caution - If you are going 62mm pulley route instead of the 65mm with the intake upgrade, after the intakes - do the fuel upgrades and get an AFR gauge before the pulley otherwise there is a heightened risk of going way lean (reportedly) and frying your motor.
decision process would go something like......
65mm....happy?>No...DCAI...happy?>No....Tune....ha ppy?>No.....Supercooler, Water Pump, Fuel Pump, Lambda and Logger setup (or at least AFR gauge)>Check!....62mm+ Tune....happy?>No....save more money....;>)...stay tuned for our next episode folks....
happy?>yes...enjoy!
