Don't recall the exact module numbers ,but only one digit was different.
Dealer would sell me Canadian DRL module for $700
I opted to go to Canadian tire for the 100 dollar fix instead ,but think that if time was not of any essence and you could find a Canadian DRL unit at the wreckers , my Canadian and American friends could have Canadian style DRLs
Unfortunately the information you were given is wrong.
The US does not have a DTRL unit, the Canadian unit is a DTRL.
When you change from the US to the Canadian unit all you do is plug it in and it works. It is Plug and Play as they say. No dealer computer and hocus pocus required. How do I know? because I have done it and others including SparkieSRT6 have too. I plugged his unit in my US car, took it to the certification test, passed and gave it back to Sparkie. Easy Peasy.

Do not believe the dealership, they may or may not know and they just want your money.
