I tried this, pressing slow and releasing slow within 2-3 seconds and then two presses spaced 1 second apart but pressed them quick separately. How long should I wait to press and hold after the ignition key is turned off?

I am getting the "beep" sound after about 8-10 seconds when I the press and hold the odometer reset button and then turn the key back to the "run" position, but the number behind the tool icon and minus sign does not change.
