I have a manual and am not aware of any problems. The shift can be a little "notchy" from first to second when cold, but otherwise it's great fun. The auto apparently is a little more fuel efficient, but not drastically. It shouldn't be enough to be a deal breaker, and the overall purchase price may be a little less for the manual.
