If you need really clean component leads and if the flux isn't doing a good job cleaning I suggest a cheap solder vacuum pump from radioshack. Completely remove the relay, scitchbrite/sandpaper the leads and resolder to bare tinned pads. Probably overkill but it would be decided on a case by case basis I suppose.
