HID Lights installed
I installed Phillips 6K HID kit last week and I must admit the difference is worth every penny! I even had a friend who isn't in to cars at all comment on them before I even told him they were new. The color looks really good and the difference in performance is "night and day," literally. I couldn't be happier! The install took me about 4 hours total, but I really took my time. I ended up drilling holes in the frame and mounting the passenger side ballast with heavy duty SS screws. The Driver's side was a little more difficult. I ended up just using zip ties to secure it to the body under the headlamp housing. I am confident it will hold. I would have drilled holes and mounted it better but getting the housing out is a complete pain b/c of the bumper removal. All in all I am satisfied with my install and product choice.
I only have one small issue with the lights. The bulb out warning light comes on every time I turn the lights on. Its not a big deal but when its the only light on it just keeps bugging me. Has anyone else had this issue? Can it be corrected? I read on the SLK forums that the computer will "learn" to turn the light off after time. I don't think it will happen but its a good thought. Another fix I read about is a regulator that provides the right amount of electricity from the bulb. I would rather not buy another part but if that is the only way to fix the problem than that is what I will do.
I purchased the kit from xenondepot.com and am very happy with their service.
