Outside shot, but the only thing that comes to mind :
Usually the low profile tires on our cars are directional tires.
It's possible that by mounting with the rotation direction wrong, the previous wear pattern now causes the smooth circular rotation to be a bit interrupted, which in turn results in non-linear signals from the wheel speed sensors to the BAS/ESP module.

Like I said, just a wild a$$ guess.
