I suppose if you get a CEL light with the problem and the stored code indicates a CPS fault there is really no guessing involved. I don't think the OP mentioned a CEL or if he had done an OBDll scan. Hopefully you are correct and the fix will be both easy and inexpensive for him.
Yes true, the OP didn't mention whether he had a code come up on the OBD scan but I assuming he hasn't been able to do this as it wasn't mentioned. I still would say its very likely it is the "Crankshaft position sensor" thou, as I had the exact same problems as the OP and that's what was wrong with mine. This is also a very common thing to go wrong and matches what he has said, so it all just makes it very likely this is the issue.
Btw forgot to mention but OP mentioned asking about the Mercedes benz part, that is the one you need. The genuine chrysler one is actually a Mercedes part (as these cars are essentially a mercedes and use all there parts), I am looking at the "faulty one" that I removed from my car and on one side it says Mercedes-Benz and on the other side it says Bosch.
