I have heard the same. I believe that Bosch is the main source for most electronics in German autos, and they are absolutely INFAMOUS for their failure rates.
I have a feeling in about two or three more years we will really be talking about sensor problems, as well as all other things electrical.
It might be worth extending the 3 year/36k mile warranty for just this reason alone.
