Harman Kardon Drive & Play
I own a 2005 Roadster with the CD/NAV radio. I had installed at a professional audio joint, (X-Treme Audio, Chrest Hill, Illinois), the Drive&Play interfacing to my iPod 60 GB. I purchased the setup from Crutchfield because they advertise that they will supply me everything I need. X-treme does not sell this interface.
First visit to X-treme, found out that Crutchfield did not send antenna interfaces for setup. Called Crutchfield and was told that if I had talked to someone while ordering off the internet that would not have happened. I reminded them that the web interface says tells us your car info and we send everything you need. Received an apology from Crutchfield and they sent some cables, free of charge. Nice customer service, it would have been better not to have called in the first place but they stood behind the purchase.
Second trip to X-Treme, X-treme says they are the wrong cables and he installs and sells me the right ones. iPod works well using FM modulator.
Find out the next day that AM/FM does not have a radio signal. Call Extreme make an appointment for the next week.
Third trip to X-Treme after an hour, installer tells me that he can't make it work. The setup attenuates the Crossfires pre-amp antenna. Nice guy suggests a new radio with built-in interface to iPod. My problem is the NAV system will go away with the radio.
As of yesterday I have written to Becker and asked for assistance with making the CD changer interface work, **** can the FM modulator and plug back car antenna.
So far $400 for iPod, $200 for Drive&Play, $150 for an install with parts.
If anyone can help let me know. I've read the threads related to my problem. I didn't find the answer there. I did find someone who was hoping that the Drive&Play would work, Not yet.
