Default Re: Alternator Went Up In Smoke

I finally got a chance to work on it today. It was easy, for the most part. Would have been much easier, if the rear plastic piece had the right molding for the cable that needs to be bolted down. I got it from Allied Auto Parts here in town. A reman Valeo for $169. It was a pain to wrestle the alternator in there, and took more than a few tries before I'd realized it was wrong molding! I took it back since I'd already left the old one down there for my core, and had them swap out the back pieces. After that it was pretty much a snap.

I'm hearing some noise coming from it. I took it for a 5 mi test drive and noticed it after I popped the hood. I shut the car down and restarted it after a few minutes and I didn't hear the noise anymore. We'll see how long it holds up here - rather soon I suspect.
