Default Re: my supercharger, 6speed

Based on my research, there were a couple of things that put the brakes on the prospect of doing this. The major problem I saw was the custom remap of the computers (ECU FMU) to handle the super charger. It wasn't the hardware, that's the easy part. It was the fact that, as far as I know, no one in the US has the software or capabilities to do a custom remap to make the SC work on the NA engine.

So basically the scenario goes like this, I install all the associated supercharger hardware, plumbing and wiring harnesses from the SRT6. I go to start the car and it runs at idle until I step on the gas and the computer still thinks it's the original NA set-up and starts choking, barfing, whatever.

I need to advance the timing, retard the timing, richen the FAM, lean-out the FAM. How do I do this ? Well I spoke with a lot of companies like MOTEC etc. and they said they can do a custom software program to interface with my computer, it will only cost about $10,000.

So, until you can find someone that has the capabilities of manipulating the computers on the car to tune it properly, I think you're wasting your time. You can't just slap in the ECU from an SRT6 either...

I'm sorry to say, I'll bet the guys who are working on the dual TC in the other thread are going to pull their hair out trying to find the programs that will make their system work on the car. They will have to get in the good graces of someone in Germany to give them the protocols and programming.

Funny thing, the software for the Pontiac Solstice is already available from a half dozen companies, given to them by GM so they can custom tune the cars for just this type of thing.

Now, can you understand my continuing frustration with the Crossfire.
