I once was discussing how it seemed that my trans would sound like it was shifting slightly and the engine RPM would decrease very slightly but remain in the same gear.
It was explained to me by "James1549" that this is the normal characteristic of the trans. and what I am hearing is the torque converter operating as it should.

I'm not sure if this is what you are describing but I wanted to offer this info anyway
