I do not know but someone on here must be near Columbus.
The Carfax is a good starting point, but they ONLY know what is told to them by public records or insurance companies---They do NOT know all.
I would guess the dealer to dealer bounces are because they were asking too much and the 60 day floor plan ran out and the car had to move.
Being over 8 years and going on 9 model years---some lenders will not loan on the car. Forget the low miles, the car can not be financed by some lenders.
I sold cars for years when I had my repair shops and at certain mileage and at certain ages lenders just will not lend. When this happens, the price of the cars drop because less money is out there---well less sources of money and then cash becomes king.
$18k is high and they know it.
Here are the last cars which have sold at auction---SRT6 coupes ONLY
08/14/13 CEN FLA Regular $11,000 38,678 Above GREY
08/02/13 NEVADA Regular $13,600 38,914 Above BLACK
09/03/13 NYMETSKY Regular $6,500 39,974 Avg GRAY
07/24/13 DALLAS Regular $8,700 48,421 Avg GRAY
07/18/13 TAMPA Regular $8,900 72,991 Avg BLACK
08/06/13 BALTWASH Regular $6,200 73,402 Avg BLACK
When I get on the estimator---I get this on Manheim---
Average Auction Odometer---9800 miles
Nov 4 - Nov 11 2013
-----------Above... Average... Below------------ Dec 2013 Nov 2014
Auction $12,850... $10,850... $8,875---- $10,650 $8,100
Est. Retail $17,400... $15,250... $13,100--- $15,000 $12,250
Above Avg Wholesale on this car is $12,850---PLUS a buy fee for ABOVE AVG car with 9800 miles.
AVG wholesale is about $11k---This is the NUMBER---Crossfires are NOT hot cars.
Est Retail for above avg is $17,400 and think this is still high---over a 4 grand profit.
Tell them to check the MMR---Manheim Market Report on the car.
Please do not tell them where you receive the info from---they will know that you talked to a car guy and they will not like it at all, but SORRY.
If they are in the car "deep" that is their problem---The car is worth what it is worth.
$16k is top in my opinion and this is for a no paint work, super straight car that is ready to go and is FULL RETAIL.
I would only consider this $16k because what I said before about the lower number of sub 10k cars---and some will pay for this.
Something around $15 is a better deal in my opinion---Avg retail for a 9800 car---NOT my opinion but Manheim's.
Tell them you will give then $2000 over what they PAID; IF and only IF they bought it correctly at under $13K (see above).
Avg wholesale is shown at $10,850---under $13k is top at the wholesale level---They should not be in the car for any more.
They do have a business and cost, so they must make a profit, but over $4k is a DEAL FOR THEM.
They will NOT get $2000 more if the car must go back to the auction---They will actually have to pay a sell fee and my lose money.
$2000 over auction is real money to pay for the car and what ever they did to the car and still have a profit.
The MINUTE you give up the POWER to walk away---THEY HAVE YOU---They just won at this point.
Since you now have information---THEIR INFO---Use it.
Tell them to go to MMR and print it out---You will see the above.
Make them PROVE you wrong---They will not be able to do this---This info is today's numbers.
Avg retail for a 9800 mile car is $15,250 per Manheim---the largest auction house in the nation, so they know something.
Just know even at the price you are paying the average retail---This is not a steal by any means, but you do have a sub 10k mile car.
Any more is over retail---Of course, lower is better.
VERY IMPORTANT---Remind them about all the dealer-to-dealer sales---Money is rarely made with these---and tell them ALL the others priced too high.
How do you know?---Because they would have SOLD the car if they priced it right---SIMPLE!
Good luck, Jimmy
ALSO---Look on the search to see possible problems---this list is small. The usual leaks and crashes are the start and what I said above in the last post.
