Default Re: Mile High Horsepower?

Hello again,

I spent my morning installing the Last mods I'll put on my car. (yeah right...) I changed the plugs and wires, installed an oil catch can, a 65 mm SC pulley and revised the tune. Holy Cow Batman! Did that ever wake up my little "fury!"

I did want to share a few things with you guys/gals:

The plugs and wires are NOT fun to take off and replace. If you have big hands, it gets even worse. I had plenty of help and even employed my 9 year nephew to reach in places I couldn't. I was very surprised to see that all 12 of my plugs were in very poor condition at just 59K miles? There is no way they could have lasted 100K miles at that rate.... I know the oil catch can will help prevent this from happening (prematurely) again!

My stock SC pulley's bearings were shot and very noisy. I decided to try out a new smaller (65mm) SC pulley to see what all the fuss was about. Ummm, it's fr*****g AWESOME, and relatively easy to change out. The re-tune takes 10 minutes and is extremely easy to do with EC's Euroflash software.

So, for 4 hours of patient work I ended up with a car that idles so well I thought it stalled out at the first two stops I had to make. I couldn't believe the difference.... The throttle response has improved and when you step on it, everything changes. The flat torque curve I was so used to is GONE! Replaced with a series of "turbo like" surges that pull like hell! During a few test runs this morning, most power kicked in @ 2000rpm and just kept pulling through the top end of 3rd! 2nd gear is just as fast as 1st Amazing difference! It's almost violent now so it will take some getting used to. I am sure I will. lol.

I can probably stop whining about altitude now as my car seems to have adjusted well to the new mods. I am anxious to see what really happens to my 1/4 mile times!!!

For those of you who have these mods, I have a few questions? What does the pulley and tune do to your mileage? Did you have similar experiences with your cars regarding the "new" power surges?

Thanks again!
