While, at my local gas station, if they decide to increase the price, I have no real say.

Also - if they decide to increase the price, the oil they bought beforehand at a cheaper price (and under my feet already in tanks at the station) also goes up in price. It is treated like gold, (up and down according to the market they create) although it is a consumable item. Nobody questions this - nobody has a say in this.

I am all for capitalism - but raping people in the name of capitalism is wrong! Making an honest dollar - or billions of dollars - is fine, until it becomes abuse. THIS IS ABUSE! This is morally wrong. They have us by the cojones and they know it. Our elected officials need to look into this. The line has to be drawn somewhere.

I'd say that's my two cents - but I don't have two cents - gas just went up again as I was writing this.

Those who DO own stocks in these energy companies are the only ones who are happy to overpay for gas and see prices rise, rise, rise. (Perhaps you?)

I'm not trying to argue for the sake of arguing - it just really ticks me off to see this kind of abuse. I can afford the gas. However, many people cannot - and like it or not - gasoline is a necessity in our society - not a capricious consumer item that only a certain segment of society can afford. (Starbucks, lobster, Crossfires, etc.)

Anybody see my point? Or am I just ranting and raving about something I know precious little about?
