When my cam sensor was acting up, it would flash indicating a missfire, keep flashing because it was non stop and most of the cylinders, and ultimately shut down spark completely from the cylinder(s). I didn't think it was supposed to or true at first but star DAS lists this as what happens over continuing missfire's.
