Default Re: Eurocharged tune issue

You may want to unplug the cooling fan, it will run the whole time you are flashing otherwise.

NOW,
I've watched that video thru to the end a couple of times and the critical part that I don't find is when they tell you about the erroneous gray box that pops up at the end that says, (and I paraphrase since I'm going off of memory) "not all packets received ... advise trying to reflash .. DO NOT TURN OFF CAR OR YOU WILL BRICK YOUR ECU .... contact us immediately "

so of course, it was after closing at eurocharged so I had to leave my key on ALL NIGHT to avoid the risk of "BRICKING MY ECU"

finally got an email from Philip at EC the next day in which he wrote, (and this is a direct quote)

"Hello chris, sorry about that last night.

If you receive the “packets” message then your car has been flashed and it is okay. At the beginning it says reflash successful and at the end I know it says please flash again so I’m sorry for the confusion.

The only message you do NOT want to see is the recovery mode one. When seeing the recovery mode prompt do not turn off the car, simply flash the car back to stock and THEN flash the performance back on.

Again, once you get the “packets” message you will be okay to turn off the key.

Let me know if there is anything else we can do."

This message comes up every time I reflash .... of course now I know. But, you'd think that they would mention this somewhere (on there site ... in the video ... on there forking answering machine perhaps? )

I think this is part of the reason it is suggested to do it when you can contact EC ...

The cable thing is funny too ... I expect EVERYONE using a V1 cable had to find out on there own that it needed a new driver (again, info that would have been useful in advance).

I expect this sounds like a rant, but I do use their products, and in the event you get the same message you may find my anecdote of value.

Cheers,
Chris
