Re: 2004 V8 6-speed
Update on my build:
Thought it was weird that I had a small puddle of coolant under the car whenever I go to drive it and see nothing in the bay. Figured it was the tank and that it needed more JB. Come to find out my lower radiator hose wasn't all that tight. Rather than mess around with a flathead (which was tight) I used a socket on my screwdriver ratchet thing and guess what!? No more coolant under the car.
Drove the car and immediately popped the hood to see if the tank was good and found one small pin-hole left. Let it cool, wipped it, JB'd and I'll check tonight but I'm pretty sure it's good at this point.
Not all that funny, I laughed but kind of pissed me off - I was playing in DAS to see if something wasn't set right for my "oil HI" always kicking on but no idiot light... Come to find out my ignition mapping was set at 87 RON!!!! That's like 83 Octane!!! I changed it to 91 with correction, and sure as $h** the car was smoother, gas mileage increased, decel was faster and smoother, slight kick in the pants difference, and traction light actually flickered in 3rd at 70... -facepalm
Also irritating the crap out of me ---- I trimmed the front clip of the V8 airbox around the upper radiator hose so that it actually sits in place correctly.. After driving everytime I pop the hood, it shifts and doesn't sit right. I have to force it all over to the left, then clip it in. Now for a while I've noticed a small white smear on the airbox drivers side. The torque is actually making the airbox impact the hood!
So now I have to tie down the motor mounts.
Gotta love builds like this though. This easy stuff is fun, gives me something to do when I'm bored. Plus everyday I'm learning what else I need to do to customer cars when someone finally decide's to have me build them one.
Steve, thanks again for the fan. I haven't put it in yet due to figuring out how I'm going to wire it, but it looks big enough. I kicked up the voltage of my pusher and set it to kick on earlier as well, I'll show you how in DAS when we get there on yours.
