Default Replaacement lens for the fog lights

We have had the discussion on a glass replacement for the headlights, but what we failed to discuss and I see it as an easy solution and a more common problem, is a replacement for the fog lamp lenses.
The OEM lens is basically flat, and they have a lip that fits in a sealed recess on the front of the housing.
The replacement lens could be made flat glass plate. The glass edges - both sides, could have a radius for esthetic purposes.

The same parts could be used for the left and right lenses but assembled for left and right.
I think glass is used because of the bulb generating heat that would damage plastic.

If not too much heat is generated then the lens could be made of polycarbonate. Both could have a polycarbonate lip which is bonded in place to suit the left or right lamp position.

Left or right part broken? no problem, fix it yourself using the basic parts assembled to suit.

With used lamps at $100 each and new ones at $200 this is a cheap fix.

How hard could it be?

Psst! Who wants to buy two new fog lamps before this gets going. LOL
