Yeah, I'm amazed that someone would neglect a car like this. I sure hope the guy did the maintenance and just didn't reset it, but I may never know. The oil is definitely pretty dirty though. Your other option is to by the 9 qts of Mobil1 and the filter, and take it to a shop you trust, and let them change it, and just pay their labor. Remember to have the level checked after 8 qts, and only add what's necessary after that. Should be around 8.5 qts. Also, being that the oil is so dirty, you might not want to go 7K miles on it. Maybe change it again in 3-4K miles.
