Funny... the only time i use my manual switch for the rear spoiler is when i want to block out headlights and or to taunt the person behind me who is honking or tailgating... ITS NOT A WAVE IT IS MORE
the "FINGER"!!! 
they either get the message or they are stunned in their seats to see the rear deck ejecting a wing... have to admit its a rare sight!
they always back off... however i had this kid drive alongside me asking to "do it again"!
