Re: hidden message
Andrew, not to contradict what you said, but it reminded me of a trip I took to a local Plymouth dealers service department back in the summer of 1970. My old friends brother was a mechanic there (I don't think they were called techs back then, but I may be mistaken). Any way, he asked my friend to bring him a special tool from his home tool box to complete a job he was working on. The service department held about 20 cars, and I remember over in the corner was a brand new yellow Superbird gathering dust.
There was a few Road Runners, an early vintage Cuda, and the usual everyday bread and butter family trucksters scattered around.
The car that really caught my eye was a red 67 GTX. It was up on jack stands, with slicks still mounted, uncorked headers, and shoe polish letters and numbers still on the windows. When I asked my friends brother what it was there for, he said they towed it in Saturday morning, because he blew the rear end at the drags Friday night.
Jokingly, I asked if it was still under warranty? He said, "Yep, it only had about 28k on it. I thought he was just kidding, so I asked him again, and he said no, he was serious.
Boy, those were the good old days.
