CARFAX is always a good idea, but you would be amazed at some of the things that can slip by them.
I'm not sure, but I don't think carfax would say anything about her car being used as a "track experience" vehicle or not. I would guess those cars are just sold off to the dealers as "factory official" or "program" cars.
The dealer may be completely in the dark about the cars previous life, but I highly doubt it.
I don't know if checking with Chrysler about any info they could get from the Vin # would do any good either, because they may not want to "incriminate" one of their dealers.
If the dealer was local, I'd just take it back to the dealer while the impressions are still visible on the window, and ask them why they didn't disclose that the car was used as a track test car? Then ask them what they plan on doing about it, since it was an obvious attempt at pulling the wool over their eyes.
Since BlueQT had the car delivered, it may have come from a dealer not so close to home. In that case, I'd get the letters on the window documented by a local dealer in writing, and maybe have her lawyer send the dealer (where her husband bought the car from) a letter asking for some sort of compensation.
I wish the "PUCKSTER" would chime in on this thread. At least we could hear what Blue QT's legal options really are.
I know I'd be really ticked off if the dealer did that to me, and it could happen to anybody. I guess that's why they say, "Buyer beware!"
