Re: Fuel Filters
$60 for a fuel filter with a built-in fuel pressure regulator is not a bad deal.
I used to buy a lot of Purolator parts. I still do buy some. When I was first conducting long-interval oil change tests on our daily drivers (from 5k miles to as much as 12k miles) I had disappointing performance from a Purolator oil filter. Like most aftermarket oil filters, they do not have the pleats supported by the adhered rope like the Mann/Mercedes Benz filters do. When removed after 11k miles, I found the pleats in the Purolator filter had completely lost their shape. Some of the pleats were smashed together blocking oil flow, and some were stretched out flat, at risk to even tear.
After a 12k mile oil change, the Mann/Mercedes filter looked like new, only dirtier. That is all I have used since.
