Re: Most annoying driving habits...
Since I am formerly from Long Island I can relate to Marc's statement. But here in Virginia there is a whole different driving culture/attitude. I don't want to insult any board members from Virginia, but the drivers I have encountered thus far drive like complete IDIOTS. No one stops for changing lights (turn or stop), stop signs are a joke, no one...I mean no one use signals...including the Police (except school buses). Cell phone use here is legal unless you are under 18, this makes no sense. People refuse to stay in there lanes, all the young drivers are reclined so far back in there seats that they cannot see over the dashboard. I have concluded that most drivers here, especially pick up trucks think that the yellow line in the roadway is there so they can drive on it and MAKE SURE THAT THEY TAKE UP THE WHOLE ROAD!!! Ironically in Henrico County where I live when it comes time to take your road test it is given in the back parking lot of the DMV, this I think is one of the main problems. No one really knows how to drive once they get on the roads, unless you went to Driving School and even that is suspect. I have seen Driving School cars were the students DO NOT use signals. In the State of Virginia 4 out of every 10 accidents ends in a fatality (insurance is not mandatory either). Again I apologize if I have offended any of the Virginia forum members, but I am sure that none of them would drive their XFire as I have described above.
Marc...Just the other day I encountered a man in a 2005 300C that was on his cell phone (without a hands free device) and had a map stretched across his steering wheel, and he was doing 70. Needless to say as I passed him, hit veered into my lane and just missed us by inches. Strangely we got off the Interstate at the same exit, pulled up to his side at the light and asked him if he was a safe driver...his answer was yes. He stated that him almost hitting us was my fault, and that "when you see a person that busy while driving you should not try to pass them"...go figure! My Wife and I just looked at each other, the man had the IQ/common sense of a door ****.
