skreem generally will not shut down the engine once it's started, but the CPS sensor surely will.
Did it crank over OK after it shut off ( and possibly a cool-down period ) ?
If so, then 99.9% sure it's a CPS related failure.
get a $50 Bosch CPS and look up the DIY thread, save yourself tons of $$$$$
