Don't look for a 2006 Chrysler Crossfire on U.S. dealership lots. With 2005 Crossfires still backed up on dealer lots, the Chrysler Group will not import a 2006 Crossfire into the United States. Dealers have plenty of 2005 models left, says Chrysler Group COO Eric Ridenour. "We have sufficient stock," Ridenour told
Automotive News. The lack of a 2006 Crossfire here doesn't signal the demise of the car, he said. The company is selling 2006 models in Western Europe, and the Chrysler Group expects to offer a 2007 model in the United States.

What sort of platform are they going to be building on for the 2007 XFire if this is true? If they can't rid stock of the 2005's, why make a 2007 unless it will be competitively priced and have the performance/trim that makes folks wanna get one. If they could get an SRT version in the 30's and have it compete with other coupe/roadsters, it would sell better. Then, buyers would choose the new Xfire over say, and Evo, BMW-3 series, or even the lesser priced but good-handling-for-a-GM-car Saturn Sky Redline with a turbo 2.4L or other vehicle in that gross realm of a performance coupe.
