OK, that seems reasonable. Key should have worked. I assume your latch is put back together and all fuses checked, not just locking system? If you haven't tried already, try disconnecting positive cable and reconnecting after a few minutes. I can't figure a dead battery causing this. I have had both cars with dead batteries over the winter when my maintainers went bad. But, I never lock the cars in the garage.
