Intercooler leaks are the function of the heating cycles on the core and the temp differentials, I say this after cutting and examining many intercooler cores. The pump pressure is low --- very low in comparison to the boost we see.

Not to worry about pump pressure. Bigger pumps have the benefit of moving more water and make better use of better cores like the super cooler I designed.
