Re: Guy gets hosed when his car will not start.
THIS WEEK.......I have a company owned truck. 2012 Ford E250 with 102k kms or 63k miles. Took it in to my local ford dealer that I have been using for the last 2 years for an oil change and A/C not blowing cold.
Told me I needed upper and lower ball joints on left side and A/C Receiver Dryer. All out of warranty. Told me the lower ball joint was ready to fall off and upper is halfway there. I questioned them about how a 2 year old truck could need these even with the high HIGHWAY use miles they said very common with these trucks. I said go ahead with the lower only, leave the upper as is and do nothing on the A/C which they quoted at $600 for a/c only. When i picked it up they had done both upper and lower B joints which I told them then they did it for free cause I told them not to do the upper.
Took it to an independant shop for the A/C repair and they said it was clearly a refridgerant leak at the O ring near the dryer. Out the door for $220 inluding evac, recharge, o ring, labour and tax.
Thiefs.......now I wonder if both B joints were probably fine too.
Called the dealer Service Manager and told them I will never be back.
