I have found this type of seal putty to work great in resealing the wing mounting plate . . .

I would not use that stuff at all as it dries and becomes like glue and you will not be able to take the plate off again without causing damage. I used it as a gauge to determine the thickness of the gaps all around. I put it on, bolted down the plate and then took of the plate and it was quite hard to get the plate off.
The stuff is not that sticky but the area of contact is quite a bit so it all adds up to a strong bond.
That is not the post that best explains and solves the leakage problem.
