Accelleration is not affected, the system computer applies breaking pressure to the drive wheels when it senses one wheel is losing traction in relation to the other. It prevents you from doing power slides around corners and spinning the car when you're not expecting it.

Great for the everyday driver... Not good if you're running the car on a road racing course...
