Sounds to me like maybe more than one problem. The battery could be putting out noisy voltage( tow light).
Check the vac hoses around the MAF and Throttle Body. Does the car have a catch Can? make sure it is drained and vac lines are connected and not leaking. Look for a bad Sprint Booster too!
