Worth noting, the guy I was speaking with at Mercedes yesterday was saying that there was a recall on the OEM CPS recently.... so, if you bought a part two years ago, there's a good chance it's a dud (or will fail just like the other one did). He said unfortunately, many dealers liquidated their old stock to smaller vendors, so the "genuine" articles we're buying on eBay may not be the latest & greatest.

This was all discussed as I was trying to help him diagnose the idle issue on the car I just sold... When I was telling him everything I replaced, he asked about the CPS. I told him I changed it in May, he said "where did you get it?" and I told him the forum. That's when he shared the above information with me.

Take it with a grain of salt... but in this case, buy the current-level stock from a dealership you trust... not eBay.
